Giorgione

The Giorgione is a family run hotel situated on an island near the Rialto Bridge in a charming, quiet area in the Cannaregio section of Venice, thus called after the Regio Canal, which connects the Grand Canal to the Lagoon, in the Santi Apostoli quarter. The building is traditional, in keeping with the rest of the architecture in Venice. Its rating is particularly valued because despite its adaptation to the age of technology, it has remained firmly traditional as many guest have wished it to be regarded as a welcoming home. In the late eighteenth century it was a large sweets warehouse, and in the early 1800's it was converted into a hotel called Hostaria; after a number of years, whilst it remained in the ownership of the same family, it became the elegant, refined 4-star Hotel Giorgione. The hotels 76 rooms are fully equipped for the comfort and relaxation of all guests. The rooms vary in size but are generally large and kept in very good condition whilst also observing the needs of handicapped guests. All are decorated is in a Venetian style. Room amenities included satellite television, radio, mini bar, safety-deposit box, air conditioning, an automatic wake-up call and heating with independent thermostat, direct dial telephone, bathtub/shower, hair dryer and a complementary umbrella for rainy days. The third floor is reserved for non-smokers, and some rooms also include picturesque Venetian roof-terraces for a bird's-eye view of Venice. Room service is available from 7:00 to 12:30 each day. The hotel owners are particularly keen on committing to the goal of making guests feel at home. The common areas of the hotel offer an Internet point, a billiards table, an icemaker, a shoeshine machine, clothes washing services and newspapers from various countries. Hot tea is offered every afternoon in the colder months whilst cold tea is offered in the summertime. Tea is served along with traditional Venetian sweets. The honesty bar is managed separately, but also focuses on the personal touch and the Giorgione pub/wine shop is happy to welcome lovers of the local cuisine and wines. Several different specialities may be tasted here, prepared according to traditional Venetian recipes. All though the hotel does not have an on site restaurant it does have a breakfast room which serves fabulous buffet breakfast and in the summer months opens up to an exquisite garden area. If guests cannot find what they are looking for within the hotel walls there are a number of services which they will find in the neighbouring area include: a fitness centre 500 m from the hotel, a pool, a sauna, and a massage centre 1 km away, tennis courts and horse riding ground 3 km away, an 18-hole golf course 4 km away and water sports 3 km away.The Giorgione gives a home from home appeal and is ideally suited to guests that wish to get away from it all.
