Much of the original hand hewn log structure and decor of Deer Lodge are still in place and other architectural features from the original building have been restored. Deer Lodge is ideal for guests looking for a quiet retreat, with excellent and innovative cuisine and attentive staff and a respect for the past, which characterizes the accommodations at Deer Lodge. Heritage rooms have two double beds that can accommodate up to quad occupancy based on sharing existing beds. Amenities include a private balcony, full bathroom, coffee maker and hair dryer, in-room safe, feather comforters and most are furnished with antiques from the era. Most rooms don't have a telephone, and none have a television. Hotel amenities also include a rooftop hot tub with a dazzling view of Victoria Glacier, sauna and a gym. The Caribou Lounge, with magnificent views of the Victoria Glacier, is the original log teahouse and serves breakfast and lunch, while in the Mount Fairview Dining Room, you can sample Rocky Mountain Cuisine, the roots of which go back to both the lavish Victorian cooking from the CPR rail cars and the hearty meals prepared by Swiss and Austrian mountain guides. The Lady Agnes also provides cuisine that matches the splendor of the Rocky Mountains. X-country skiing, downhill skiing on 5 mountains, dog sled rides, sleigh rides around Lake Louise are popular activities in the winter while summer activities include hiking, rock climbing and day tours, canoeing, white-water rafting and horseback riding.
