A truly delightful, family run, 2-star hotel just a stone's throw from St. Mark's Square, the Fontana Hotel has been in the same family for nearly 40 years. Located in the midst of one of Venice's many small, yet thriving, squares, the Fontana Hotel offers a informal hospitality in a pleasant and friendly manner. All rooms are equipped with private bathroom, satellite TV, telephone and air-conditioning, and either overlook the the San Provolo or San Zaccaria squares. This is a traditional hotel without a hint of contemporary furnishings - in fact quite the opposite; the atmosphere and ambience of the public areas is warm and inviting with antique furnishings, marble floors and traditional Venetian paintings. An extended continental breakfast is served downstairs adjacent to the small and extremely cosy bar. All in all, the Fontana is well worth a try.
