THE HOTEL AND ITS LOCATIONThe hotel San Carlu Citadelle was built in 1970 on the ruins of the house of Napoleon's child minder facing the citadel ramparts two steps away from the old port Tino Rossi.Its name comes from the quarter where you can find the hotel: the St Charles quarter the name of a bishop of Corsica and Sardegna during the XVth century.Because of its location the hotel have an exceptional view on Ajaccio's citadel which first was a simple fortress built by the Genoese during the XIIve century. Then in the XVth century it was transformed into in a real fortress as in Calvi under the supervision of the same architect.After 40 years of activity the hotel has now a new owner since March 1st 2010.The hotel could not be better located for a perfect discovery of Ajaccio : in the heart of the historical quarter the most animated of the city 50 meters from the beach Saint François beautiful beach of white sand surrounded by restaurants and cafes shopping streets two steps away from the casino and night clubs the central market as well as all the high points of Ajaccio's history (Emperor's house museum cave Napoleon ) Our hotel is at the immediate vicinity of all the great business and administrative centers of Ajaccio which is the administrative capital of Corsica thus a perfect location combining leisure and work having your professional meetings at walking distance: the Regional Assembly the Prefecture the City Hall the Conseil General the Bank of France the main agencies of all major French banksIn the heart of the Imperial City facing the XVth century citadel the San Carlu hotel of Ajaccio will seduce you by its exceptional location but also by the conditions of your stay by the kindness and the availability of the local staff dearly committed to this historical hotel of Ajaccio old city and by its comfortable rooms.The hotel doesn't have a private car park non the less at 150 meters you will find an exterior paying car park (car park of the Congress Hall) and a paying covered one also at 150m (car park of square Charles De Gaulle).THE ROOMS AND THE SERVICESThe hotel San Carlu has been granted since 1993 the 3 stars category. It offers numerous services and category of rooms from 14 to 22 square meters.single (all with a queen size bed) double twin beds or triples ( additional sofa bed or bed) superior or our petite suite of 26 square meters located just under the roof. The buffet breakfast is served at the dining room from 6:30 am to 10:30 am: also you have the option to enjoy the continental breakfast in your room ( from 7am to 10 am)The hotel proposes as well the stage evening including the night stay the evening diner and the breakfast in partnership with some of the surrounding's restaurants: you may choose between a Corsican meal chargrilled meat a risotto and even a couscous! All these restaurants present the requirements of quality of our selected partners. The 40 rooms of the hotel are all soundproofed and air-conditioned (individual reversible air conditioning) with a bathtub and toilet in the bathroom a direct telephone line a satellite TV (flat screen) wifi access everywhere in the hotel some of the rooms have a mini fridge for your personal use.Located on the 4th floors of the hotel with an elevator access most of the rooms have an exceptional view on the 15th century citadel the port or the sea The other rooms face a pedestrian back alley providing quietness and relaxation.The hotel which has a new owner since March 2010 offers also PROMOTIONAL STAYS ALL YEAR LONG on some category of rooms (see our fares)ACCESS By car from the airport Napoleon Bonaparte (7km away): at the first roundabout after the exit of the airport make a left toward the city center (16 km) at the 2nd roundabout make a left (358 meters); at the 3rd roundabout make a right toward the city center ( be aware of the speed trap 50 kmh limit 50 meters away) and go straight for 33 km along the cours Prince Imperial and then the cours Napoleon (go through 11 red lights) arrive at the roundabout of the square Charles de Gaulle (also called Place du Diamant) go straight toward the sea side (avenue Eugene Mancini 200 meters) then turn left at the roundabout toward the Citadelyou will see the hotel at 100 meters.By car from the harbour or the bus station (700 meters away) : leaving the harbourbus station make a left at the roundabout and continue along the Boulevard Sampiero (150 meters) go straight on the boulevard du Roi Jerome (100 meters) until the square Foch make a right and take the avenue 1st Consul (95 meters); at the roundabout Square Charles de Gaulle (our Square Diamant) make a left toward the sea ( avenue Eugene Mancini 200 meters) and make a left at the roundabout toward the Citadelyou will see the hotel at 100.Walking from the harbour or the bus station (250 meters away) : exit the harbourbus station and make a left walking in front of the Congress Hall until reaching the square Foch (or City Hall square) along 150 meters; continue straight along the old port and walk up the boulevard Danielle Casanova (100meters).
